Ridgid SeekTech SR-20 Utility Line Locator

Description

Omnidirectional antennas read electromagnetic fields across active utility lines from any approach angle. The Ridgid SeekTech SR-20 Utility Locator tracks gas, water, electric, and sewer paths beneath job sites. Excavators pinpoint buried pipes without confusing ghost signals. Battery life drops under four continuous hours when operating the backlit LCD display in sub-zero winter temperatures.

The exterior casing utilizes high-impact ABS resin with reinforced rubber corner bumpers to cushion jobsite drops. An internal processing board connects to multi-directional antenna arrays operating from 10 Hz up to 35 kHz frequencies. Power draws from four C-cell alkaline batteries or rechargeable NiMH packs, pulling under 1.5 watts. Net unboxed instrument weight registers 3.5 lbs, balancing along an ergonomic 28-inch tall folding wand profile.

Key Features of Ridgid 66508

Utility contractors and excavating crews buy this line locator to prevent disastrous pipe strikes before digging. Sourcing this commercial utility locator at competitive pricing protects underground infrastructure and jobsite schedules.

• Omnidirectional antenna array measures signal strength and line orientation from any direction.
• Target guidance arrows guide technicians straight toward the center of the buried conduit.
• Continuous depth readout calculates line burial distance without manual button presses.
• Broadband frequency tracking reads active line transmitters, passive power, and radio signals.
• High-contrast backlit display shows signal clarity under harsh noon sun or night emergencies.
• Audio speaker emits tone pitch changes as the antenna aligns over buried utilities.
• Lightweight folding boom collapses down to store inside small vehicle cab compartments.

Receiver Sensitivity Frequency Bench Verification

RF bench testing confirms frequency reception sensitivity across 512 Hz, 8 kHz, and 33 kHz channels down to negative ninety-five decibel milliwatts. Depth calculation accuracy measures within plus or minus five percent on steel gas pipe buried at eight feet. The omnidirectional antenna array shows zero blind spots when rotating the wand three hundred sixty degrees on axis. Current draw remains stable at 320 milliamps. Thermal testing shows zero frequency sweep drift through a range from minus four to one hundred twenty degrees Fahrenheit.

Trench Navigation Field Handling Realities

The center grip distributes wand balance straight down the arm, eliminating wrist torque across long pipeline sweeps. Push-button keypad controls respond through thick insulated gloves. Do not buy this locator for finding non-metallic plastic pipes or deep bedrock voids without introducing a traceable metallic wire or sonde.

• Remove alkaline batteries before storing the wand for longer than one month.
• Clean the LCD screen with soft lint-free cloths to avoid scratching protective layers.
• Check the battery compartment O-ring seal to preserve weather resistance in heavy rains.

Ridgid Lifetime Utility Warranty Manifest

Ridgid warrants the SeekTech SR-20 with a Full Lifetime warranty covering circuit board failure and housing defects. The transport case contains the SR-20 locator wand, surface markers, clip-on mast, four C-cell batteries, hard-shell storage case, and printed instruction manual.
